IFA Whittle Safety Award 2023 – Lillian Lungu

Our winner of the 2023 IFA Whittle Award – Lillian Lungu, Manager Quality Safety, CAA, Zambia.

Ms. Lillian Lungu is a pioneer lady aircraft engineer in Zambia with thirty years’ experience in civil aviation. She is a member of the African Civil Aviation Commission Safety Experts Group.
Lillian began her career as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with the Zambia Flying Doctor Service, and later as Engineering Manager.
At Zambia CAA she was a Senior Airworthiness Inspector and is now heading Quality and Safety there. Lillian has lead the development of the State Safety Programme for Zambia, established a reporting scheme with data analysis and the formation of a successful National Aviation Safety Committee.
In addition to several qualifications in Aviation, Lillian also holds a Masters Degree in International Law and is an Advocate of the High Court of Zambia.
Lillian is a member of the Directors Institute of Zambia, Engineering Institute of Zambia and Women in Aviation International.
