The Federation’s competition offers an opportunity for ‘next generation’ aviation workforce.

IFA Airworthiness Paper Competition

The IFA with the support of our sponsors aim to provide an opportunity for young persons working or studying with the aviation industry to share their fresh ideas and insights and to receive a prize to assist with furthering their personal development.

The selected winner in 2020 will receive:

  • A voucher to attend for free a Baines Simmons Ltd airworthiness training course (subject to availability). Please note that all transport, accommodation and additional costs will be at the winners expense and the voucher will be valid for 12 months from date of voucher.
  • £400 cash prize & certificate from IFA
  • A free online Airworthiness training course by Wing Engineering Ltd

How to enter

If you are age 25 or under, work or study within the Aviation industry then we invite you to enter our competition by writing no less than 1,700 words in English on the 2020 theme

‘Airworthiness Threats and Opportunities for the next 10 years’

The rules and working of the Competition are as follows:

  • The Paper Competition is open to any person studying or working with the aviation industry who is under the age of 25 on the closing date of the year entered.
  • Entries will be made via the IFA website.
  • All entries will be written in English.
  • Papers should be no more than 1700 words on the subject title provided.
  • The title and opening of applications will be announced in the Autumn, closing date for submissions will be early spring.
  • A panel made up of IFA members and invited guests will review the papers submitted and select a winner.
  • A cash prize will be paid direct to the winner, additional prizes may be offered by sponsors and supporters of the competition as detailed annually.
