NATO certifies Albanian Civil Aviation for airworthiness
NATO has officially recognized Albania’s Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) for meeting its strict airworthiness standards, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today.
Rama praised the decision, calling it a milestone that proves Albania’s aviation sector now aligns with NATO’s highest safety and operational benchmarks. “The Civil Aviation Authority of Albania has fully met the standards set by the Atlantic Alliance,” he said.
The recognition boosts Albania’s standing within NATO, allowing closer coordination in joint operations and enhancing the country’s aerospace credibility. It could also attract more defense and aviation investments.
Achieving NATO airworthiness certification involves rigorous inspections and compliance with safety, maintenance, and operational protocols. Albania’s success highlights its ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure and integrate with Euro-Atlantic defense frameworks.
A NATO member since 2009, Albania continues to strengthen its military and aviation sectors as part of its long-term strategy to meet Western security and defense standards.
