Our winner of the 2025 IFA Whittle Award – Dr Tony Kern, 

This prestigious award is nominated by the IFA members and honours the work of Sir Frank Whittle, father of the jet engine.  It recognises an outstanding contribution to airworthiness.

In recognition of visionary leadership transforming aviation safety culture worldwide, fostering integrity, and enduring commitment to airworthiness and professional excellence we are delighted to have Dr Tony Kern accept this years award.

Dr. Tony Kern is an Air Force veteran, author, and leading authority on human performance in high-risk industries.
He spent more than two decades in military aviation as a command pilot, instructor, and human-factors leader.
After retiring, he directed national aviation programs and founded Convergent Performance, a firm dedicated to improving reliability and reducing human error.
Dr. Kern has written multiple books and advises organizations worldwide on precision, professionalism, and operational excellence.
