Ms Allen, Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Student), LIAT (1974) Ltd was awarded the 2016 Scholarship Award. Nominated by Capt. Malcolm Chan-a-Sue, Chief Executive Officer of the Art Williams & Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School.

Ms Nerissa Allen

“I am very honoured and would like to thank the IFA for this scholarship. I am also honoured to be the second individual from the small island of Antigua to receive this amazing opportunity.   This scholarship will expand my knowledge and give me an even greater understanding of Airworthiness as it plays a major role in the aviation industry.  I am looking forward to gaining experience in Airworthiness Fundamentals which I will be able to apply more readily in daily maintenance.”

Ms Allen used the Scholarship to attend the Cranfield University Course ‘Airworthiness Fundamentals’ in September 2016.  The course addresses the key aspects of design, construction, maintenance and operation of aircraft across the wide spectrum of technologies met in aerospace. It features all aspects of airworthiness from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

“programs like IFA’s scholarship contribute not just to the individual but also to their company/organisation, as well as at the global level.”

Frank Turner
IFA president
