DHL to build $85 million hangar in Bahrain

DHL Express is all set to construct a maintenance hangar at Bahrain International Airport, marking one of the company’s largest aviation infrastructure investments in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Valued at $85.1 million, this landmark project will significantly enhance DHL’s MRO capabilities while strengthening Bahrain’s position as a regional aviation and logistics hub.

The facility space spans 33,850 square meters, and includes a 9,800 square meter hangar space and an additional 21,515 square meters of supporting land. Purpose-built to accommodate DHL’s Boeing 777 and Boeing 767 freighters, the hangar will provide both scheduled and unscheduled line maintenance capabilities.

Construction of the hangar is scheduled to begin in October 2026, with full operational readiness targeted for August 2028. Once complete, it will serve as the operational center for DHL’s MENA Aviation team, consolidating its management, operations, maintenance, and administrative functions under one roof.
