CASA announce new Aviation Engineers scholarship

A new scholarship program has been launched by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to encourage more people to work towards becoming a licenced aircraft maintenance engineer.

CASA is offering three annual $5000 scholarships to help up-and-coming engineers achieve their Part 66 licence.

CASA’s Acting Director of Aviation Safety, Graeme Crawford, said the new scholarships will provide practical encouragement for people interested in a career in aviation maintenance and engineering.

“High quality aircraft maintenance engineers are critical to a safe and vibrant aviation industry,” Mr Crawford said.

“We have set up this scholarship program to build even more interest from young people in aviation engineering and maintenance.”

“The scholarship will help meet costs associated with completing CASA theory exams or relevant costs incurred during apprenticeships and other training.”

The scholarships will be open to people who have worked for a minimum of two years in aviation and have started structured training towards a maintenance licence or who are doing on the job training.

Winning candidates will demonstrate a high level of engineering aptitude and a commitment to safety, as well as having already made solid progress towards an aircraft maintenance licence.

Applications for the 2021 aircraft maintenance engineer scholarships must be submitted to CASA by 19 February 2021.
