Home Articles IFA welcomes Captain Lau as new IFA Vice President Asia

We are pleased to announce that Captain Samson Lau has joined the IFA Board as IFA Vice President Asia.   Captain Lau will continue the global link of IFA taking over from Captain Victor Liu who was recently appointed Director General HKCAD.  The HKCAD and IFA are dedicated to Continuing Airworthiness issues and by working together aim to continue to disseminate information, enable discussions and promote key messages throughout the Asia region.

Captain Lau is a qualified professional pilot with ratings on various types of jet aircraft and has over 20 years experience of working within the HKCAD.   His depth of knowledge and expertise will be a great asset to IFA as within his current role as Assistant Director-General of Civil Aviation (Flight Standards) his duties cover all aspects of airworthiness, overseeing flights standards and safety, airworthiness and aircraft certifications approval of design, maintenance and training organizations, and licensing of maintenance engineers and pilots.

Frank Turner, IFA President on welcoming Captain Lau to IFA said ‘With the world in turmoil due to the impact of Corvid 19, unrest as experienced in the UK, Hong Kong and other parts of the world, the need for IFA to use its vast global experience of the Board and it members has never been greater, we are delighted to continue our close ties with the HKCAD and welcome Captain Lau.”

Captain Lau commented “ It is my honour to be the successor to Captain Victor Liu as the IFA Vice President Asia.  Indeed the whole world is suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic.  I totally agree with the IFA statement “the importance of Airworthiness remains undiminished” in this period.  I’m sure that by working together, we can contribute more to cope with the challenges ahead.”
