Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration on Friday morning held a type certification board meeting (TCBM), the final step before the long-awaited regulatory approval of the 737 Max 10, according to three people familiar with the milestone.

Following the completion of the TCBM, which The Air Current is told was successful, Boeing is expected to deliver a project statement of completion (PSOC) to the FAA prior to ceremonial signatures that are expected to come as early as next week. The 737 Max 7’s TCBM was also held on a Friday and the aircraft’s type certificate was formally signed by Boeing the following week on Aug. 3.

A Boeing spokesman referred questions to the FAA. An FAA spokeswoman declined to comment on certification timelines which will be “dictated by safety.”
