Mick Adams

Biography

Mick Adams is one of the UK’s most respected aviation and MRO executives, with more than 40 years of leadership experience across commercial, defence and business aviation. His career spans senior roles with Monarch Aircraft Engineering, Harrods Aviation, Etihad Airways Engineering, DHL and STS Aviation Services, earning an international reputation for operational excellence, strategic growth and customer‑focused delivery.

Mick began his senior leadership career at Monarch Aircraft Engineering before moving into business aviation with Harrods Aviation, where he led the construction of two new hangar facilities at Luton Airport and trebled the size of the business within five years. He later returned to Monarch as Managing Director, delivering the landmark Birmingham Airport hangar—the first major UK hangar development in more than two decades—and doubling the organisation’s scale during his tenure.

At STS Aviation Services, Mick served as CEO and built the capability to convert Boeing 737NG aircraft for the RAF’s E‑7A Wedgetail fleet, a programme that marked a first in UK aviation and created hundreds of highly skilled engineering roles. He subsequently established STS’s Manchester operation and introduced the Mammoth Boeing 777 passenger‑to‑freighter conversion programme—another significant UK aviation first.

Across his international career, Mick has consistently delivered business growth, improved performance and created substantial shareholder value, while helping to generate thousands of skilled jobs across the UK aviation sector. His contribution has been recognised through multiple industry honours, including a lifetime achievement award.

Mick is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a board member of the International Federation of Airworthiness. He now serves as a Strategic Board Advisor to private‑equity‑owned aviation businesses including JMC Aviation Group, LAUNCH and Sunvair Aerospace Group, while continuing to contribute to senior industry forums shaping the future of global aviation.
