The Engineering AvSafety Seminar titled ‘Maintenance Matters’ will discuss three key topics:

• Human Factors – Error management and Leadership
• Maintenance – Penetrant inspections and Defect reporting
• Regulation Reform – Charter/Air transport and Part 43.

This seminar will explore the difference between human and system error and the importance of leadership in aviation maintenance. With input from the audience we will discuss these human factors topics, review the issues and their effects.

We will also be reviewing the ins and outs of penetrant inspection, the ‘what’, ‘why’, ‘who’ and ‘hows’ of defect reporting and conclude the seminar with a discussion about the proposed General Aviation (GA) maintenance regulations for private and air work operations.
